These facilities are qualified and approved for a wide range of dispersion and combustion experiments. They can be used for:
• Closing knowledge gaps in particular for mixing, transient combustion phenomena and fires of burnable gases and multiphase combustible mixtures in order to improve risk assessment and mitigation strategies for associated technologies.
• Providing validation data for the further development of advanced combustion models suitable for large scales in industry and public spaces.
• Development of new test procedures for identifying safety relevant properties of components and systems.
• Evaluation of safety performance of new components and systems.
• Development of simulation tools for risk assessment of burnable gases and dusts, ranging from robust engineering correlations and criteria to the 3D CFD code GASFLOW-MPI with high predictive capabilities.
